What is Legislative Assembly?

A Legislative Assembly is the lower house of the state legislature in India. It is a body of elected representatives responsible for making laws for the state. The size and composition of the assembly are determined by the Constitution.

Established under the Constitution of India to provide for representative governance at the state level. The first general elections to state assemblies were held in 1952.
